A FAMILY AFFAIR

image6

In 1976, the late Robert Lemire Sr. purchased the iconic Hunter Farm. Here is where four young boys became men working the family farm.  They quickly learn the meaning of "hard work" as the farm was a 24/7 family business.

The farm was sold many years later but the land where the current sugarhouse sits is still a big part of the family.

Making maple syrup runs in the Lemire family as their grandfather, Joseph Lemire, had what would be considered a small sugarbush, around 500 buckets.

In 2009, they decided to go back to their grandfathers roots and start there own sugarbush.  As they walked the land, they found evidence of around 500 rings that rotted in the ground.  At one time this land was a sugarbush dating back to the 20's.

THE BROWNS RIVER

The Browns River is an approximately 20 mile waterway in northern Vermont.  The mouth of the river is in Fairfax.  The source of the river is on the western slopes of Mount Mansfield in Underhill.  The river flows west from Mount Mansfield, through Underhill State Park to the town of Jericho.  Continuing west, it enters the town of Essex and turns north near the village of Essex Center.  It passes through the town of Westford and reaches its mouth in the southwestern corner of the town of Fairfax, where it empties into the Lamoille River.

The Browns River is a popular spot for swimming, fishing or just relaxing on the river bank.

ORGANIC MAPLE: WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE?

image8

Many consumers believe that because maple syrup is genuinely a natural product, labeling it as organic maple syrup is redundant.  The truth is, there are many important differences between natural and organic and it all boils down to a set of strict regulations regarding the sugaring process.

At Browns River Maple our maple syrup is certified organic by the ECOCERT ICO located in Plainfield, Indiana and we carry the USDA organic seal.

Our maple syrup is 100% free of any pesticides and chemicals.
